10 Tips To Keep Your Partner Satisfied

Despite making a strong commitment and a lot of effort, many couples end up at the brink of breaking a relationship due to minor mistakes.  As the need to hold on to your partner seems to be growing among people, so does the divorce rate. The solution seems to be in following some basic steps that can help you hold on to your partner, without acting desperate or annoying him/her.

1. The first step towards building and retaining a relationship is to be understanding. For instance, you should keep in mind your partner’s work schedule and shouldn’t be persistent in bugging him at work. Having said that, an occasional afternoon call to ask when he/she will be home is fine. Just don’t be a stalker.

2. Compromise is perhaps the next most important thing. While you might or might not have to weight or appear for the sake of your partner, it is a gesture of love to try to appear attractive. You can expect the same from him. The point is, compromise is a two way ride that serves both partners. It has to be made at some points and avoided at others.

3. Complimenting your partner can let him know how much you appreciate his companionship. A gesture of love such as a hug or a kiss, as well as a compliment can keep the sense of affection alive in a relationship. The opposite can lead to resentment.

4. Helping your partner is very important. Taking out the trash may be part of this, but also make sure that acknowledging his efforts and keeping yours registered in his/her eyes can help strength a relationship.

5. Don’t hide details and be honest with him, even if it hurts at times. It’s better to bare the truth than to regret losing a special person over a mindless incident.

6. Don’t wait for a special occasion like the Valentine’s Day, a gift or sign of affection is periodically needed in a strong relationship.

7. Never and I must repeat, never, speak ill of your partner’s parents or siblings (unless you have no choice). It’s difficult to love someone that just called your father a monkey.

8. Treat him like you did when you first met or like the initial days of your marriage. This keeps the sense of excitement alive and counters possible resentment.

9. Avoid disgusting your partner. Some relationships break due to fights on things as little as a person’s laundry habits or “his shoes lying all over the place”.

10. Work together on a project or go out with your partner to do something enjoyable for the both of you. Instead of watching a slasher flick, it might be better to go to dinner at a place you both enjoy. Or plan a vacation (an affordable one), to spend some time together.
